The Cricket in Times Square, by George Selden is an endearing story about friendship and loyalty. When Chester the cricket finds himself in Times Square and is taken in by Mario and his family, even though he misses home, he learns to love his new-found friends. Both Chester and Mario learn much about true friendship when Chester makes great personal sacrifices to help Mario’s family. And Mario, seeing that Chester’s needs aren’t being met, strives to help his loyal friend.
